London has a rich history of track racing on Good Friday, going back over 110 years. Over time the sport has evolved, along with the provision of facilities across the country and it’s expanding, modern-day audience. The largest changes have been seen in recent years as we’ve embraced the impact of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games legacy.
2018 heralds a new era for Easter holiday track racing and celebrates the creation of a brand new partnership between Full Gas Cycling, Lee Valley VeloPark and Vibrant Partnerships.
GOOD FRIDAY RACING brings together the iconic World Class facilities of Lee Valley VeloPark, with London-based cycling events organisers Full Gas Cycling (founded by Tony Gibb) to deliver an exciting day of track cycling competition, featuring a full, 7 hour programme of Endurance and Sprint events for Men and Women.
The aim of GOOD FRIDAY RACING is to create an event which is accessible to a wide audience base (especially families), creates a showcase for the huge pool of talented riders emerging from within the sport and provides local club riders with the opportunity to compete on a level-footing against Elite riders in the legendary surroundings of Lee Valley.
The programme will include two, separate Open Mixed Sprint competitions, two Mens’ Endurance competitions (with a qualifying round and points available for the National Hard Track Endurance League) and an omnium-style Womens’ Competition. There will also be a range of different activities taking place around the racing for spectators of all ages to enjoy at their leisure.
Racing begins at 1.00pm and tickets (priced from £5 for Children to £25 for a family ticket) will be available to purchase on-line or *on the day.
